This sign was seen in the city of Shiogama in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. It indicates the location of the nearest place of refuge in the event of a tsunami. Following the tsunami of March 11th 2011, with 15.800 people being killed and 2.600 missing, such signs were put up.

Places of refuge are higher grounds and high rise buildings made of reinforced concrete.
