Some airlines require the shutters of windows to be pushed up during takeoff and landing. This is a safety measure to prevent accidents. When deboarding the plane and stepping into the bright sunlight, it is difficult for the human eye to adapt to the new light condition. Accidents may happen especially when leaving the aircraft via a stair or ladder. By having all shutters in a pushed up position, light falls into the cabin thus allowing the human eye to adapt to the light conditions outside of the cabin. Also rescue teams can look into the cabin in case an emergency situation occurs.

いくつかの航空会社は離着陸時に窓のブラインドを開けることが規定されています。これは安全規定です。目的地に着陸して乗客が機外に出ます。突然変わる光の強度で戸惑い事故になりがちです。着陸の前にブラインドを開けて外部の光に目を少しでも慣らせます。又、離陸や着陸の時点で事故があった場合、救助隊が機内を良く見渡す事もできます。
