In Germany, 10 000 children are injured in car accidents every year. In 2008, about a thousand children travelling as a passenger in a car suffered serious and fatal injuries. A common reason is the lack of an age appropriate restraint system. Surveys have revealed that 42% of children in the age group between six and twelve years are not being secured in an age appropriate child seats when travelling within city limits. That´s almost every second child. When travelling outside of city limits and on highways every third child (37%) is not secured properly. However, in the age group up to six years almost every child is properly secured (98%).

Four safety tips:

-The lap belt must be placed on the pelvic bone. It must not be placed on the belly.

-The shoulder strap must be placed on the collarbone. It must not be placed on the throat or on the shoulder joint.

-When using a booster seat which helps to position a child at the correct height for the safety belt the belt must be placed in the guiding slots. Always tighten the seat belt so it fits close to the body.

-Children up to the height of 150cm (3ft 11inch) must be secured in age appropriate child seats. Even on short trips within city limits.

ドイツでは年間交通事故で1万人の子供たちが負傷しています。2008年には、丁度千人の子供が車に便乗して負傷及び重傷を負っています。その主なる原因は、6歳から12歳までの子供が市外では3人に1人（37％）、市内では2人に1人（42％）が年齢相応の安全チャイルド・シートを無視したからです。これに引き換え6歳までの子供には、ほとんど全員
（98％）に安全チャイルド・シートが使用されています。

安全に関する4項目の勧め

・骨盤用のベルトは必ず骨盤にかかっている事。絶対に腹部に締めない事。

・肩にかけるベルトは鎖骨にかける事。ベルトが首に当たったり、肩の関節にかかったりしていない事。

・座席を高くした場合は、ベルトは座席下部側面にある角（写真参照）のようになっているその下を通す事。ベルトは体にきっちりと締める事。

・身長150cm以下の子供には、チョットそこまでと、自分の住居がある地域を移動する時でも、その子供の年齢相応な安全チャイルド・シートを使用しましょう。
