Whenever travelling in unpopulated areas, getting lost or stuck can be very unpleasant. This is especially the case when being in the desert. Anyone travelling to the desert should take simple but very important safety precautions such as:

1. Make sure you carry a sufficient amount of water. Take into consideration that something unexpected might extend your stay.

2. Be sure your vehicle is properly maintained, in a good condition and has a spare tire. Simple things such as a flat tire can cause big trouble in the desert.

3. Know your way. Carry a navi or a map.

4. Stay on marked roads.

5. Do not leave into the desert on your own. Inform others about where you go and when they should expect you to be back. Take advantage of mobile communication in case service is available.

6. Leave marked roads only when accompagnied by a local who knows his way around. It´s easy to get lost in the desert.
