They could safe your life! - Don´t panic but keep calm! - Don´t fight the current! This means don´t swim directly against it. Swimming against a current will lead to exhaustion, the main reason for drowning accidents. - Swim parallel to the shoreline and out of the current. Once out of the current, swim at an angle towards shore or ride waves. - In case you can´t escape the current stay calm and wait. The current will loose strength at some point. - Float or tread water to save energy. - Call and wave for help. Try again to escape the current.
