Nach einem langen Flug kam ich am Internationalen Flughafen von Osaka an und wollte mit der Rolltreppe zum Bahnsteig hinunterfahren. Plötzlich geriet mein Hartschalenkoffer aus dem Gleichgewicht und rutschte die Rolltreppe hinunter. Der Koffer fiel auf die Seite, rauschte mit erschreckend hohem Tempo die gesamte Rolltreppe hinunter und schlitterte auf den Bahnsteig. Dort kam er, zum Glück ohne jemanden verletzt zu haben, nach mehreren Metern zum Stillstand.

Tatsächlich ereignen sich auf Rolltreppen von Flughäfen und Bahnhöfen tagtäglich Unfälle bei denen Passanten durch außer Kontrolle geratene Gepäckstücke verletzt werden.

Zur Vermeindung von Unfällen gilt auf Rolltreppen:

Gepäckstücke immer gut festhalten!

Benutzen Sie mit Koffern und großem Gepäck nach Möglichkeit einen Fahrstuhl.

Rechnen Sie auf Rolltreppen von Flughäfen und anderen Orten mit hohem Gepäckaufkommen damit, dass Koffer oder Gepäckstücke anderer Personen die Rolltreppe herunterfallen können.

Besondere Vorsicht ist beim Hinabfahren von Rolltreppen geboten!

After a long flight I arrived at the International Airport of Osaka and wanted to go down the escalator to the platform of the train. Suddenly my hard-shell suitcase came out of balance and started to slide down the escalator. The suitcase fell on ist side, slid down the entire escalator at an alarming speed and slid onto the platform. Fortunately, with no one hit or injured my suitcase came to a standstill on the platform.

Actually, on escalators of airports and train stations accidents in which people on escalators get hurt by falling suitcases or other pieces of baggage occur everyday.

To prevent such accidents from happening the following should be kept in mind:

Always hold on to your luggage!

Instead of escalators, elevators should be preferably used in case one has a suitcase or a large piece of luggage.

On escalators at airports and other places where people carry luggage, be aware that suitcases and baggage may fall down the escalator.

Particular caution is advised when descending an escalator.
