Drinking water from springs and streams

Jan 20, 2015 02:48:07
Category: Outdoor

When hiking, biking, or camping sufficient supply of fresh water is needed. Very often it is impossible to carry all the necessary water and it is inevitable to fill-up the supply. While some springs provide pure water, the water of others contains water-borne parasites or microorganisms which can cause discomfort and sometimes serious illness. The same applies to water from streams even if the water looks clean and pure. In general, the probability of clean water is higher in the case of streams compared to bodies of standing water.

For outdoor activities, it is recommended to purify water through chemical treatment.
